Akzo Nobel and Quatar Airways are distributing SOLVATTEN in Islamabad and Baldistan. The Swedish branch of Akzo Nobel, Casco Adhesives took practical action in fundraising and buying Solvatten units for distribution to schools in the flooded regions. The project was initiated by the group NOOW, a Swedish environmental organization.

Solvatten AB is pleased to welcome another distributor – the Smallholders’ Foundation in Nigeria, directed by Nnaemeka Ikugwuonu. Nnaemeka will be focusing on his local region, the five states of Imo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi and Anambra.

The Smallholders’ Foundation works with farmers to improve agricultural practices and livelihoods in a sustainable way.  A special feature of the work is that the foundation uses its own radio station – The Smallholder Farmers Rural Radio – to broadcast educational programs to thousands of people.

Nnaemeka himself has won numerous awards for his pioneering work as a social entrepreneur, including the YouthAction Net/Starbucks Shared Planet Youth Award 2009, World Summit Youth Award 2010 and UNDP Equator Prize 2010.  He is an Ashoka Fellow and was named Young Person of the Year 2011 by Nigeria’s most prestigious youth awards – The Future Awards.
